泰拳中最为常用的是猛蹬、封蹬、探蹬，在使用猛蹬腿法时多为主攻或对攻，攻击目标一般为：头部、胸部、肋部、腹部，攻击力和杀伤力较大，如运用得当可重创对手。
使用封蹬腿法时多是以攻制攻，“封”之意既是封挡、阻截，运用战机多在对手攻击时利用其在攻击中瞬间出现的空挡和对手主攻时的冲力，起腿撑蹬对手，攻击目标一般为：胸部、肋部、腹部，由于封蹬腿法主要是以封挡、阻截的攻意为主，所以其攻击力和杀伤力较猛蹬腿法要弱，但如果在实战运用时能以撑蹬之力和对手主攻时的冲力二力合一，同样也能重创对手。
泰拳手在使用探蹬腿法时，多为干扰对手、试探对手的动向、为下一步主攻腿法做辅攻，其中“探”既是干扰、试探之意，攻击目标一般为对手大小腿、膝部、腹部，攻击力和杀伤力较弱。
     猛蹬、封蹬、探蹬在运用时如果只从照片资料上来看，并不易将其区分，因为从一般照片资料上来看，这几种蹬法在瞬间攻击时会很相似，但实际上其每种蹬法的发力方法、攻击目标、攻击意识都不相同，也可以说其中任意一种蹬法在实战中都可以是另外两种蹬法的变化攻击，实战中并无固定模式可寻，就象泰拳手在实战中会随意变化攻击一样，看着是封蹬的腿法但只要掌握了战机即可随意的变化为猛蹬，另对手防不胜防，反之亦然。
